I had no expectations about Turkey, I booked the trip spontaneously with no expectations,
however I was pleasantly surprised, this city is vibrant, colorful including the most stunning architecture!

During my time in Istanbul, I had the most amazing time! To begin with, I stayed in a modest hotel located in Taxim on a busy road(looking back it was not the best choice) for a solo traveler.
The room was a standard double en-suite, however, it was by the main road and the
walls were extremely thin I heard constant
loud music, cars beeping, people talking etc.
On the other hand, the hotel staff were amazing super helpful and friendly. Hotel surroundings were full of restaurants mainly geared towards tourists, corner shops and many Shisha bars and clothe shops!
I was located about a 10-minute walk to the main indoor Market bazaar it is truly amazing everything you need is there. You need to practice your haggling skills never expect the first price they tell you.
The food in Istanbul is generally very cheap especially outside of the main Taxim city
center square. This truly is a food city with incredible dining and everything in between.
My favorite meals were the fresh authentic lamb kebabs they were scrumptious,I also loved the Turkish tea very tasty. Istanbul also includes the most interesting sweets. I opted for more authentic Turkish cuisine rather than the cuisine at the tourist restaurants which mainly served UK /American dishes to cater to the tourists however when I am abroad I like trying the countries traditional food.
The people were extremely friendly they treated me as a fellow Turk, always ready to help me with directions and were always smiling!
I met up with in Istanbul with an old friend I lived within Florida and we did some tourist sightseeing including the Sofia Mosque, and we took a train to the mountain and enjoyed some tea and food with her husband. I also befriended some people there one girl from the UK, and one from Germany they are all on my Facebook now.
The time I went to Istanbul the British pound to the Turkish lira exchange rate was very high so I was able to dine at luxury restaurants and buy clothes for very cheap.
